Turning Followers Into Superfans With Content Marketing

As a musician on social media, you want superfans, but how do you get them? Superfans often come from your pre-existing followers, but sometimes they can be completely new. 

You can learn to use content marketing to get them. It helps to pull followers to you and make them want to seem more! You just have to know what you’re doing. This blog is here to help with exactly that!

Here are some tips on how to turn followers into superfans with content marketing.

Superfans? Content Marketing?

Before you can use content marketing to gain super fans you have to clearly know what each of those things are.

Superfans are the fans that go to your shows, by all your merch, go to events, etc.

Content marketing is how you use interesting and useful content to pull followers in. It’s all about using your content to draw followers to your profile and keep it interesting enough that they stay.

Start Beyond Early

You may feel as if you need to hold off on implementing a content marketing strategy until you have something to promote. Don’t do this. Even if you don’t have much or any music out yet, or nothing that you can think of to promote, don’t use this as an excuse to delay starting. You want followers as soon as possible. They may not be superfans yet, but without at least trying to get followers early, you’ll have no one to turn into your superfans once you do have music to release and show to go to.

There is always something to start posting about. Curiosity will gain you followers, but not if there is nothing to be curious about. Create content ASAP. If you’re not already, start now!

Create Branded Content

At this point you want to already have some superfans then, through creating branded content, they’ll get you more.

But what is branded content?

Branded content is basically content that’s clearly about a brand (in this case, your music) that isn’t necessarily created by you. It’s different from non-branded content which can still be about music but isn’t focusing on you as a brand. For example, The Lego Movie is a huge example of branded content. It’s not a traditional advertisement for Lego, but it definitely advertises it and gains customers—that’s exactly what branded content is.

For a musician, this could be a photo of a fan wearing your merch. Even if you’re just starting out and don’t have any superfans yet, you can try sending some merch to a follower for free. The photos they post of them wearing it will encourage more people to check you out and buy your merch and, inevitably, become superfans. 

Content marketing is key to gaining and creating superfans. Mix up your content, keep it consistent, and genuinely care for your followers and it won’t be long until your fan base grows.
